Gary Hunter

President

I founded Leader in 1975 and have served as President and CEO from the beginning. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Studies with a concentration in Automotive Engineering from California State University at Los Angeles. My first job out of college was to design and build specialty vehicles for Chinook Mobilelodge, a motor home manufacturer. This is where I built my first ambulance. I was sufficiently intrigued by the product to begin building them for American Ambulance and then began designing my own vehicles to my own specifications, thus LEADER was established. Since then, I have endeavored to supply emergency medical services with ambulances constructed to the highest standards with impeccable quality and a fit-and-finish unequaled anywhere else in the industry. My avocation is collecting and restoring antique and vintage automobiles but I really appreciate vehicles of all types. I am an avid "car" reader and have an extensive automotive library. My collection of antique and vintage vehicles has won numerous awards, including First and Second Place at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. I have also won First Place positions at the Los Angeles Concours. With my experience, I am a recognized automobile authority, and have served as a Judge at numerous car events. I have always endeavored to translate the meticulous processes of working on extremely rare and expensive vehicles to the engineering principles of our Leader products in an ongoing effort to set us apart from the rest of the industry. My goal is to supply the most innovative and highest possible quality product that will render unequaled service to a profession that must respond with the smallest possible margin for error.

It would be my pleasure to introduce you to the Leader products and welcome you into our family of customers.
